Key Objective of Role
The role is responsible for leading and managing the engineering department, ensuring the efficient design and execution of pre-engineered buildings (PEB). The role involves overseeing structural design, coordinating with other departments, ensuring compliance with international and local building codes, and optimizing engineering processes for quality and cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership & Management:
• Engineer Leadership & Management
• Lead and supervise the engineering team, including structural engineers, detailers, and drafters.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and performance management for engineering staff.
• Plan, allocate, and review engineering work to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to timelines.
Structural Design & Analysis:
• Oversee the structural analysis, design, and detailing of PEB structures.
• Ensure all designs comply with applicable standards (AISC, AISI, MBMA, ASTM, IS, BS, Eurocodes, etc.).
• Optimize designs for cost efficiency while maintaining structural integrity and safety.
• Review and approve engineering calculations, drawings, and connection designs.
Coordination & Cross-Functional Collaboration:
• Work closely with sales, estimation, procurement, and production teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Coordinate with clients, architects, and consultants to understand project requirements and provide technical solutions.
• Collaborate with project managers to resolve site issues and ensure smooth project implementation.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
• Develop and enforce engineering standards, design guidelines, and best practices.
• Conduct periodic reviews and audits of engineering work to ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with local and international building codes, safety regulations, and client specifications.
Process Improvement & Innovation:
• Identify and implement improvements in engineering processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies in PEB engineering.
Promote the adoption of advanced software for design, detailing, and project management.
Cost Management & Optimization:
• Review material selection, design efficiency, and fabrication feasibility to minimize project costs.
• Work with procurement and production teams to ensure material optimization and reduce waste.
• Assist in value engineering initiatives to enhance profitability.
Training & Development:
• Conduct regular training sessions for the engineering team to enhance skills and technical competencies.
• Develop a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and professional growth within the department.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural.
• At least 10 years’ experience in PEB engineering, design, and project execution.
• Strong technical knowledge of structural steel design, fabrication, and erection.
• Expertise in PEB design software such as STAAD Pro, MBS, SAP2000, Tekla, AutoCAD, and other relevant tools.
• Excellent leadership, team management, and decision-making skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities with a keen eye for detail.
• Effective communication and coordination skills for cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to handle multiple projects while ensuring deadlines and quality standards.
• Professional certifications (e.g., PE, SE, PMP) are an added advantage.
• Experience in leading large-scale PEB projects.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and BIM technology is desirable.
• English speaking skills must be excellent
